Proxy is a small tabletop assemblage combining a gilded, outstretched hand, a circular aperture surrounded by radiating metal rods, and a rusted screw vise mounted within a narrow wooden tray. The hand's gesture suggests an invitation or offering, while the sunburst-like formation lends the encounter an almost ceremonial character.

Beneath this gilded outreach, the vise introduces an apparatus of coercion. The sculpture plays on the ambiguity between generosity and possession, suggesting how authority may operate through intermediaries whose apparent benevolence conceals the mechanisms of restraint.

The exosomatisation of terror produces the subjugation of races and populations and derives from a disrespect and exploitation of non-human realms. Forces in the environment, though co-produced by human action and considered both providential and economic, may dispense with human presence altogether.
