Ely Tahan works across sculpture, assemblage, drawing, photography, video, and writing. Found objects, fabricated components, and repurposed technologies enter into configurations that unsettle familiar distinctions between the natural and the artificial, the autonomous and the administered, the functional and the imaginary.

Many of the sculptural works incorporate movement, illumination, video, and sound. Their contrasting aspects invite physical navigation, revealing relationships that change with the spectator's position. Some perform independently of observation; others assemble familiar objects into unexpected formations that resist a single identity or interpretation.

Across different materials and modes of working, the practice pursues an encounter with objects that neither reduces them to their uses nor confines them to the representations through which they are ordinarily recognized.
